In the great new thread about audience energy moments, the first one involes a St Stephen fake out.

What are some of the best teases or fakeouts that you can share with us? I know people talk about the Dark Star teases of Hornsby at that Giants stadium show.

Where else can you point us for our listening pleasure?

Hey Now, I don't really know what a GD tease is, but I do have a tape from an April 1 show where the band switches instruments to play " Promise land" as April fools joke.

A Tease means that they start to play a tune- usually out of space, or out of an extended jam from another song- but the tune they start to play is not the one they actually end up playing- they did this with some frequency, but I cannot remember most of them anymore- the "best" teases would be those were they have not played a song in a long long time, and they make it sound like they are going to do it- and then do not.

The Cosmic Charlie tease in 94 is a classic because they had not played the song since 1976 at that point

Great tease at the Cap Centre on 9.3.1988. After Me & My Uncle they played the intro to Mexicali Blues, but when Bobby stepped up to sing the opening line he sings the beginning of Big River instead, and the band was right there with him - almost like it was rehearsed. Their ability to turn on a dime with no one missing a beat always amazed me.
